Poor Righteous Teachers sono un gruppo hip hop statunitense formatosi a Trenton, New Jersey nel 1989. Il trio, composto da Wise Intelligent, Culture Freedom e Father Shaheed, si è distinto per la sua musica politicamente carica e spiritualmente ispirata, mescolando elementi di rap old school con influenze jazz e funk. Wise Intelligent, considerato uno degli MC più creativi del nostro tempo, ha guidato il gruppo verso un successo underground significativo. I loro album, come "Holy Intellect" (1990) e "The 2nd Coming" (1992), hanno introdotto temi di coscienza sociale, giustizia razziale e spiritualità afroamericana, influenzando generazioni di artisti hip hop successivi.
