Long story short

Theres more to life than gettin leg up, and foot in the door
I mean id love more money, hey wouldn't we all
but putting cash over loved ones couldn't be more
I could be flat broke and still wouldn't be poor
and as for all the hard times that I guess should hurt
I don't skip a beat still put my best foot first
wish I could talk about my fam but it wouldn't of worked
cause when a loves that strong, cant be put into words
so I dedicate this, better songs, better grades,
tryna be a better son, better brother, better mate
and ive learnt from mistakes, and I don't know what I am
but a part of thats knowin what u aint, and I aint ever put a dude down
just for tryna catch his break, never gave him based on the wage,
don't ever say I did it any other way, then my own way, at my own pace,
with my own wrong turns, no breaks,

And high school wasn't for me much, nah
most of my teachers swore I was fucked
but then a couple had faith in me, helped me back up,ill probably never quite thank em enough,
but thanks to them I be steppin on stage at my graduation,
long way from walkin train tracks from the station
ridin the 405 flinders street, in amazement at the spray painter hand control,
dedication displayed on the walls, in dispute of its name, its art form,
till I tried and wasn't able at all, hah
I still wonder how graffiti goes under, when naked little girls go on magazine covers
okay, but I grew up and now im almost 6 feet, no more fucking around,
its uni courses and beats
and whats important to me is my family tree, and now knowing whatever will be, will be

knowin no one can stop me,

and when I get there you'll know
thanks to the love you gave me, the road up ahead don't phase me
look how far we come, its crazy, and when I get there

so, I live with aims to make the most of the when,
I know, that we'll never have this moment again
headphones on my head, boardshorts on my legs,
cigarettes note pad and a pen
goin back to them lunch smokes, weekend binges with my kin
in my full blue jeans when my fringe is to my chin
even before that, barely finished bein kids,
when we'd give shit to the girls we interested in, hah
and blew up soda bombs to keep us entertained
and when I kept my cigarettes in my pencil case
couldn't wait to leave sick till September came
countin 7, tickin days off the calendar again,
and some mates went astray, I love em but things change
but what can I say things change, you lay in the bed you make
and im tryna make mine a king, but lifes now, so I slow down, and take it all in
