The Weeknd, pseudonimo di Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, è un cantautore, produttore discografico e attore canadese nato a Toronto nel 1990. Il suo stile musicale, caratterizzato da atmosfere dark pop, R and B e synthwave, ha conquistato rapidamente l'attenzione del pubblico internazionale. Iniziò la sua carriera pubblicando mixtape online nel 2009, ottenendo un successo virale con il brano "What You Need".
