Gamma Ray è una band power metal proveniente dal nord della Germania, fondata e guidata da Kai Hansen dopo la sua uscita da Helloween. Hansen è il cantante principale, chitarrista e compositore capo del gruppo. Considerati uno dei pilastri della scena heavy metal tedesca, Gamma Ray ha attraversato diverse formazioni nei primi anni di attività, ma dal 1997 la formazione attuale si è dimostrata stabile. Il loro sound è caratterizzato da riff melodici, melodie orecchiabili e testi epici che esplorano temi fantastici e di fantasia.
