Generation X è stata una band punk rock inglese formatasi il 21 novembre 1976 a Londra da Billy Idol (voce), Tony James (basso) e John Towe (chitarra). La formazione si completò con l'ingresso di Bob Andrews alla batteria. La band ha raggiunto un discreto successo negli anni '80, influenzando il movimento new wave e contribuendo a definire il sound punk rock britannico. I loro brani più noti includono "Your Generation", "Dancing with Myself" e "Kiss Me Deadly". Dopo la rottura con Idol nel 1982, James ha continuato a guidare la band fino al suo scioglimento definitivo nel 1986.
