This is rough and um
I mean I ain't slept in a lil while
I done slept under bridges
I done slept in little cardboard boxes
And stuff, you know just surviving
Especially in winter time, it's the hardest time
And like uh, I go to fill out applications for a job and stuff
They look at me, you know I'm not looking presentable
And then they, well we'll call you, leave a number behind
How can I leave a number when I don't have a phone

There is a man under the bridge a couple blocks from where I live
Filthy pair of kicks and you can see all of his ribs
I feel the urge to serve today but I can't really give
Cause I just left the crib, inside I got a couple kids
But I stop the car to sit and chat about the things he has
He said, I ain't got nothing but the clothes that's on my back
He said, I feel more free than I think I ever have
I'm freer than that car you drive or what you pay in tax
I said damn, I often think too truly I'm the man
Cause I've collected so much treasure I can't hold it in my hands
It's been supply in demand but at times I do feel low down
Awakened by the fact that I'm buried by the things I own now
They say you do not own possessions, I guess that be true
Cause if you slip and lose your grip, they end up owning you
I don't know how to feel so I just stare into the blue
And wonder deep inside exactly what you gonna do
If I give you this money will you save it up for food
Or blow it all on booze, I wouldn't judge you if you do
This life is hard enough to go it sober, that is true
So I enjoy a sip or two, it helps me to get through
But if I give you this money, would you aim for something big?
Turn it all around and give the world a couple gifts
Make the world a better place to live and exist
I'm not sure I'll truly ever get the gist of the man under the bridge

We so used to seeing others that we no longer bothered to think now
My father gave the lady money to eat now

And he still here, happy to exist
If I give you this money would you save it up for food
