Mos Def, pseudonimo di Yasiin Bey, è un rapper, cantautore e attore statunitense nato a Brooklyn, New York. Cresciuto nel quartiere di Clinton Hill, ha iniziato la sua carriera musicale negli anni '90 come membro del gruppo hip hop Black Star, insieme al collega Talib Kweli. Mos Def si distingue per le sue rime intricate, il flow poetico e le tematiche sociali che affronta nelle sue canzoni. Oltre alla musica, ha recitato in numerosi film e serie televisive, tra cui "16 Blocks", "The Italian Job" e "Blade II". Nel 2009 ha cambiato il suo nome legale in Yasiin Bey, dichiarando di volersi allontanare dalla cultura mainstream americana.
