Amon Amarth è una band di melodic death metal svedese proveniente da Tumba, fondata nel 1988. Il nome della band deriva da Amon Amarth, un'alternativa al nome del Monte Fato, la montagna vulcanica presente nell'universo immaginario di J.R.R. Tolkien, la Terra di Mezzo. Dal 2009 la band è sotto contratto con Metal Blade Records e ha pubblicato sette album in studio, un EP, un DVD e sette video musicali. Amon Amarth è nota per le sue melodie epico-nordiche, i testi ispirati alla mitologia scandinava e l'energia bruciante dei concerti. Tra i brani più rappresentativi si possono citare "Twilight of the Thunder God", "Guardians of Asgaard" e "Runes to My Memory". L'album "The Pursuit of Vikings" (2008) è considerato uno dei loro lavori più importanti.
Il lancio del nuovo EP "Heidrun" è stata l'occasione per realizzare una versione molto particolare della title track.
