The Cult è una band rock britannica formatasi a Londra nel 1983, grazie alla collaborazione tra il cantante Ian Astbury e il chitarrista Billy Duffy. Dopo un inizio influenzato dal movimento gothic rock degli anni '80, con album come "Love" (1985) e "Electric" (1987), la band ha abbracciato sonorità più hard rock e alternative rock negli anni '90, raggiungendo il successo internazionale con album come "Ceremony" (1989) e "Sonic Temple" (1991). The Cult è nota per le sue performance energiche dal vivo e per l'atmosfera mistica che permea la sua musica. Tra i brani più rappresentativi si ricordano "She Sells Sanctuary", "Rain", "Fire Woman" e "Black Angel".
